Anyone ever shoot the Henry H001 lever action .22

My little brother wanted to buy his first gun so I thought I would ask if anyone has any experience with it.
Also the safety on the henry is the half hammer position. Would this be a reliable safety because I have heard stories of the 30-30s discharging.

I've had mine for 3 1/2 years now and I have no complaints. Wait, one complaint, I don't like the front sight too much but I've learned to live with it. Shoots great, feeds reliably, easy to carry around, and have a lot of fun with it. Never had a problem with the hammer safety, the safety actually sets well under the half **** position.

I like Henry rifles. The level actions operate nice and smooth. I dont own one but have family members that do and havent heard any complaints safety or otherwise

Those half-**** safeties are very reliable, but on some guns that have seen a lifetime of use have had that notch worn to the point that the trigger will activate the hammer if pulled hard enough. I've got a Win. model '97 that is nearly 100 years old and two '94's that are 60 years old and the safeties work fine on all of them. I think in some cases though that people who aren't familiar with them have used them wrong and discharged the gun.
