Antelope ain't tough....anywho, I'm a sucker for a 25-06.

When i go im plannin on taking my 700 ADL in .270. It weighs a comfortable 7 pounds and in hunting style shooting positions im killing silhouettes out to 350 or so.

What do you already have to use? Or do you plan on buying a new rifle just specifically for this hunt and this purpose? Are you interested in a rifle for be used also for bigger game in the future? Varmints also?
More info please, and the maximum distance shot you're comfortable taking.

There are plenty of good calibers for your job.
Just as a suggestion for calibers, without knowing your other guns currently owned, I'd throw out .243, .257 Roberts, 250 Savage, 25/06, 25 WSSM, .260 or 6.5 X 55, 7mm/08, .270 and 7 X 57, and even a 300 Savage all will work and with manageable recoil as long as you can shoot the distances needed.
You don't need a magnum for antelope but of course they can work just fine. 6.5 Remington Mag or 240 Weatherby would be flat shooting picks, but recoil or comfortable rifle weight might make them ungainly to carry around on an antelope hunt.

I shoot a 338 lapua for big game a little to big for antelope . The long range shooting ive done a ton , shot a moose at 666 yrd a mnt goat at over 700 yrds . 6 inch group at 500 yrs of bipod with out much of a problem.

I picked up a .243win specifically for antelope...

Have used a .270win for years.

Anything from .243-270 is ideal I think, they say the .25-06rem is the perfect goat gun, though I'm not certain what's the perfect goat gun, my guess might be the .243.

The .240wby might be perfect but the ammo is expensive and it's not very popular, a fast .243 would be awesome, ie 6mm-284, though again none are very popular.

The .257wby is one of WBY's most popular rounds, 3rd I believe behind the .30-378, then .300wby, so if I was going the route of the 270wby I think I'd strongly look at the .257wby. Although while you're looking at the .257/270 why not just a .270wsm, velocity plus a short action...though you really don't need anything in the power class of the .257wby or .270wsm to take an antelope even way out to 500+ yards.

Do you reload?

If you already have a 270 Wby, then you don't need anything else unless you want to buy a new rifle.... and there is nothing wrong with wanting another rifle :)

yes i do reload . Im torn 257 weatherby or 25-06 . If i go with the 25-06 my son could use it also for deer in a couple years . Not sure which way to go . Whats the recoil like in the two calibers thanks for all the input.
