New 77/22 Problems

Well i got my new ruger 77/22 mag and my bushnell elite 3200 scope (3-9x40). I mounted the scpoe to find that the rings supplied are too small (height wise) and the bolt barelly clears the eyepice of the scope and the clearance between the barrel and the scope is too tight to slip on the cover. Will ruger take back the rings and swap them for the high model w/o any extra cost (60$). Second the trigger pull is way too stiff, more than my browning gold shotgun and 10/22. Does anyone have any suggestions to remedy that problem. Other than that I like my gun. Thanks
-Bob

If the scope rings are 2 pieces each, you don' t have to slide the scope in. Put the rings on the gun and take the top halves off, set the scope in, adjust the distance from your eye to the eyepiece, then put the top parts of the rings on and put the skrews in snugly.;)

RE: New 77/22 Problems

I have sent in 3 pairs of rings back to Ruger because one ends up recieving medium rings when buying a new rifle and I like low rings. I have the same rifle you just bought though and it came with low rings which may be too low for a 40mm objective. There was never a probvlem exchanging them but they were never taken out of the packing either. Nevertheless they will work with you just give their customer service department a call before sending them in to make sure they will in fact exchange them. Dont forget to lap the rings or have them lapped after they come back .

BTW for 30 bucks you can have the trigger adjusted by Connecticut Precision Chambering... they have a website and specialize in the 77/22 line of rugers as well as other selected ruger models...

Price an aftermarket sear at Brownells and then tell me whether it is just easier to find someone to have the trigger adjusted down to 2-3lbs... I think you' ll be much more satisfied with the trigger job.
