pricing and opinion
 

recently i have come across a winchester 94 ( i think either a 94E or 94AE ) chambered in the 35win. going for $360.00 with a box through it. looks very nice. wondering if that is a good price for this gun and also how hard is it to find ammo for this gun and prices on ammo?

35 Winchester or 35 Remington? I' m assuming you ment 35 Remington. 35 Winchester would very, very difficult to find. It hasn' t been factory loaded in years, as far as I know.

That prices seems a little high to me. Or at least around here. Different areas bring different values. Around here an excellent 30-30 is $175 to $200 from an individual. The .35' s are about the same or maybe $25.00 higher. Store prices for used ones can run higher.

I bought a Winchester 94AE chambered in a 44 Mag. for $225. Between $200 - $250 is the going price for a used 94 unless there is an expensive glass on it.

I don' t know about the price on the gun, havn' t seen a .35remington for sale in awhile. I did buy a 30-30 94AE cheapo' for about $225 last year. As for the ammo, I looked the other day for someone and http://www.grafs.com carries it for around $14.99 a box. I think they had Federal & Hornady if memory serves.......

it is chambered in the 356win. looks to be brand new.

The gun you are talking about is the M94 Big Bore. It is considerably more expensive and far stronger than a standard M94. The .356 Winchester cartridge operates at 52,000 CUP, which is right there beside a .308 Winchester. Take a look at the extra steel at the back of the receiver and you will see the difference.

If you really want it that is an OK price, but a little on the high side. I have seen them go more for about $325. Ammo availability isn' t that good and it' s usually expensive when you find it ($25 a box or so). However, if you are a handloader Winchester still makes brass for it. It would be best to go ahead and buy about $200 rounds of brass if you decide to get it.

That may be a bit high but, if it is as nice as you say and you want it ,go for it. Especially if you plan on keeping the gun for awhile. It should only gain in value.
I' ve wanted one for a long time but we just don' t find many around here.

IT does feel a bit more heavier than the newer angle action 30-30win' s. it looks to be in 98% condition. i guess the original owner shot it acouple times. less than a box and got rid of it due to being abit to expensive for ammo.it also comes with the original box as well.
i thought it might be a neet rifle to have since this is the first 356win i have come to see.
i am gonna see if i can talk him down a bit. how did i know OTIS you would chime in on this post?;)
