I must be really lucky with my "woefully inadequate" .357 seeing as the only three shots ever taken at deer were one shot kills, all three bullets passed through the deer. I guess I must need a more powerful gun. How far does a 158 jhp bullet have to go once it exits a deer before my gun is powerful enough. Guess I jut wait for broadside shot and aim for lungs, just like bowhunting.
I must have nothing but luck also with my 357 batting 2 for 2 on dropping good sized boar in their tracks. The 357 has been so effective, that I was considering using my .40 for the heck of it on my next boar hunt, but I haven't found a factory load that I'm comfortable with yet to use on boar, but there is no doubt that a well placed .40 will take a mature boar.
