I love my X-Bolt also, but it's a Stainless Stalker in .338 Win Mag

At least they're trying something different than what the other rifle manufacturers have done. It seems to me that a lot of emphasis recently has been towards bottom end models that sell cheap at Wally World.

What is 5R rifling?
I think the economy dictates the lower end gun sales.
I rather have a Remington or Savage package deal for $400 than no gun @ all.

well it cant be said any other way in my book, them icons are worth every penny u pay for them, the hole point is they should cost more , mine is so accuarte it scares me ,i only have 3 other rifles in my shed that come close to the icon , and i have had all kinds of mods done to them some top out over 2 grand with purchase of the rifle,in my opion its the best production rifle i have ever bought period!:fighting0007:

In my recent gun search I had it narrowed to an Icon as one of my top 3 pics. I think they are great looking guns that should perform well.......but.

I saw 3 icons today at the gun shop.
One was a 30-06 w/weathershield that was used last year as a demo. I had to laugh when I saw 2 places were it has surface rust showing. So much for 50% more resistant to rust than stainless. I'm sure it works, but don't think it's impervious to rusting as the advertising hype had lead me to believe.
When I pointed it out to the guy behind the counter he handed me a brand new Icon in blued/ wood that had signs of surface rusting (in an odd marbled patern) on the bolt. He said the bolts were supposed to be treated in the weathersheild as well.

The Precision hunter I handled showed no signs of rust and was sure a sweet looing rifle for anyone needing a bull barrel 22-250.
