I just got one and love it. I got it for 778 at the Eastern Sportsman Show. It was with the weathershield and hogue stock. They also threw in a FREE Ultra wood stock and a 2 TC slings. So, now i have the ultra wood on it with the weather shield in .243. ITS AWESOME. WHAT A DEAL!

SNs,

If you like them, that's all that really matters (right jerry).

All I was trying to say, is you might want to start or finish with IMO.

Your comments are stated as if they are facts.

"The Icon is the best production rifle on the market right now"
"one that combined all the best features"
"hands down better than the new 700's"

Just so it doesn't seem, that if we don't agree, we must be stupid.

That's all........

You are correct Sheridan. It does seem like a nice gun but a little on the pricey side.

As far as the 700's that I owned the '06 was a very accurarte rifle. The 243 is new and I'm still getting used to it & trying different ammo to see what it likes best.Only got 80 rnds. thru it but still gets 1 1/4" groups @ 100yds.

As far as I know T/C are the only production rifles that are using 5R rifling. When I used to work for Knight's Armament, the 5R barrel blanks that we bought cost more money than most hunters spend on an entire rifle. At least they're trying something different than what the other rifle manufacturers have done. It seems to me that a lot of emphasis recently has been towards bottom end models that sell cheap at Wally World.

That's not what I was trying to say by any means. I just get a little excited about some things, that being one of them. I bought two new 700's last year, and was really disappointed in over all quality, I ended up selling them both. The Icon hasn't let me down in any way yet. Overall finish was much more impressive. I was also pleased with the x-bolt. Not as much of a beefed up action, but an accurate, handy carry rifle in the 22-250.

I love my X-Bolt also, but it's a Stainless Stalker in .338 Win Mag

What is 5R rifling?
I think the economy dictates the lower end gun sales.
I rather have a Remington or Savage package deal for $400 than no gun @ all.
