TIKKA or WINCHESTER

Who makes a better rifle Tikka T-3 or Winchester Model 70 Featherweight? Looking for pros and cons you people have experienced with these. Any input is appreciated.

holy crap, take the Winchester...

I actually own the Tikka. It's a great shooting $500 rifle. Light, great trigger, awesome groups. Not a work of art by any stretch, but it works. If you get the picture.

Winchester hands down. If you really want the Tikka, I'll trade you mine for the Featherweight. ;)

Tikka are the best gun out for the price and quality...buy the Tikka for sure.

No contest...............WINCHESTER.

I own 2 of the new fn model 70 and they are really nice rifle.I've read alot about them before buying and they seem to be very accurate .Nothing wrong with the tikka but I would take a mod 70 over it.

M7025-06 02-06-2010 06:06 AM

Winchester for sure.

+1 On the Win!A Featherweight is in my future.

mnprohunter 02-06-2010 06:42 AM

Winchester all the way.

Last year when I was shopping for a new rifle I looked @ the tikka,I bought a Rem. 700 instead. I'm not a fan of the tikka. The Winchester is a much nicer finished gun.

Better guns out there in both price ranges. Tikkas are built extremely cheap, they do shoot well and handle nicely. There are better rifles for the same price. Winchesters haven't been that great since '64. The new ones are much improved, but again better rifles in that price range too.

Winchester or Sako would be a far more fair comparison.

I do however, like those Tikka lites for the money.

My Tika 25-06 shot MOA out of the box. After zeroing, I tried 5 different brands of manufacturer'a ammo in 3 different grains and they will all hit within 2 inches of bullseye at 100yds with no adjustments. Shooting the Federal vita shocks 117 gr, the gun shoots better than I can. Braced well, the holes are usually touching or mighty close.

What is cheap about the Tikka's? The one I bought for the wife was not cheap feeling and is extremely nice rifle...they are best rifle for the price.

sns21 02-10-2010 08:10 AM

Didn't say Tikka's weren't good guns, just said they were made cheap. I have two myself, and both shoot well. They have polymer both schrouds, one action length, and I don't care for their synthetic stocks.

joeky 08-14-2010 05:24 AM

Tikka is hard to beat for the money. They may not be pretty, but they will shoot as well as rifles costing more than twice as much.

BOWHUNTERCOP 08-15-2010 12:10 AM

Tikka, at least you know who makes them.....They aren't a SAKO, but they are made by them

Winchester it seems every year someone else is making them, poor business, poor product....Like another member stated, Winchester was the way to go from 1964 and before. I have a pre-64 what a great rifle

Yuppers.....agreed

I don't even think there is a basis for comparision. The Winchester is a rifle and the Tika is a Wal-martitized Americans excuse for a gun.

Get the Winchester.

The poster above that says Winchester hasn't produced a good rifle since 64 is sadly mistaken. The FN M70 is among the best factory rifles ever produced.

winchester....will hold its value...if you take care of it!

Vlad Dracule 08-24-2010 07:16 PM

tikka or winchester

I have a tikka stainless synthetic in 300 wsm and it is a tack driver.I also own seven of the new FN winchesters three winchester extremes in 30-06, 300wsm, and 325wsm,two supergrades in 270 winchester and 300wsm and one sporter in 270wsm,and lastly one coyote light in 22-250 ,all are tack drivers. For the extra money I would go for the winchesters, lower budget the tikka ,all will get the job done, it depends solely on your own taste and your personal preference, regards Marc

Not taking away from the new winnie's, the world needed it back, BUT....get the tikka. I had a T3 Lite S/S in 7-08 and as long as I owned it, it was my favorite. Good trigger, bolt was smooth as silk and it shot MOA out of the box with factory ammo. It also weighed nicely when you carried it all day. Only downfall was the scope rings.

Sangster 09-08-2010 10:06 AM

get the tikka

Risasi 09-08-2010 10:14 AM

Tikka has the Winnie beat on trigger and accurracy......
