Express core Lokt in .30-06 SP or PSP?
 

I am sold on Remington Express Core Lokt ammo in .30-06. I just didn't understand what the difference was between the SP and the PSP rounds? The PSP rounds cost more? Can someone please tell me what the difference is?

Is one a soft point and the other a pointed soft point? The PSP might be designed for better aerodynamics and long range shooting. If your shooting under 200 yards, the regular stuff should be fine.

For a standard off-the-shelf bullet, the Core-lokts are really accurate.

PSP-CL if I am shooting a core-lokt bullet...they are not the most accurate in my rifles, but will print inside of 2 inches...

The SP version is a very rounded off tip that should be safe for use in lever action type rifles with a tubular magazine I believe. If you will always be shooting at close range, as in under 100 yards or so, I tend to notice that soft points with rounded off tips tend to deliver better terminal effects due to faster transfer of energy to target because of their larger frontal diameter. But the pointed soft points will deliver better down range ballistics and probably be slightly more accurate.

Supply and demand. The pointed ones cost more because most hunters won't use a round nose bullet, why limit a 400 yard caliber with a 200 yard bullet?

Well I doubt my shot will be over 150 yds so the SP sounds good in 150 grain.

Because there is no real differance inside of 250 yards between them in trajectory and in some side by side test the RN's drop less than some pionted bullets. Next is they have better termial performance by design due to there large round nose, scaloped and slited jacket, and the extreme thick mid section. In short they shoot as well or even better out to 250 yards hit harded, expand better and hold together better to punch out the outher side.

If your hunting 250 yards and under ther realy is not a better deer/black bear/elk/moose bullet for the 30-06 just more expensive ones.

The old CLRN bullets are some of the best we can shoot today for 250 yards or less depending on what cartridge it is in.:poke:
