Ruger Single Six will give you the option of LR and Magnum. Groups are crappy. One of my favorites is the later High Standard Sentinels. Hard to find, but good guns. Or maybe a higher capacity S&W....

I'm sure others will disagree but I have a heritage arms rough rider 22/22mag. I have had nothing but good luck with it. Probably 1500 rounds through it (all lr no mags), and not a bit of trouble. It is as accurate as I can ask it to be (more accurate than me). The main reason I bought it though is the $189 price tag brand new! Good luck

It is difficult for any revolver that can be converted from .22 lr to .22 Mag. to have target pistol accuracy, but mine is very accurate (groups are definately not crappy). The .22 Magnum cylinder is really handy for bigger critters.
Good choice going with a revolver so you won't be leaving empty cases near your traps.

It can't hold a candle to its cousin, Mark II.

S&W 317-3 is a sweet little thing. 8 shot aloy frame with HiVis adjustable sights. Extreamly light weight and shoots pretty darn good too.

Ruger single six in stainless is about as bomb proof as you can get. Mark 11 is a fine weapon, but an auto will be a bit finickier with ammo. Anything will work in the single six including .22 shorts. The Ruger Bearcat is also a fine candidate. Quite a bit smaller than the single six, it does not have target sites, but at finish em off range, that probably isnt a factor. The Smith and wesson double action Kit Gun is also a great weapon, landing between the other two in size, and it comes with target sites also. I sold my stainless single six, and have regretted it ever since. I still have my Mark 11, but it is a bear to break down to clean thoroughly, (a factor being carried outside frequently in sloppy weather) and heavier.

Don't get me wrong, it's the gun I'd have for this particular use. The ability to shoot all the 22 rf makes it really fun to own. I'm not poo-pooing it by any stretch. SS would be the heat....

i think i'll git a Ruger Single Six,i want sights on it,if i catch a bobcat,i aint gittin within 10 ft of him til hes stone dead!!!i think 22 shorts will be better for trapping.
