Suggestions for a .22
I was thinking about getting a new .22 (rimifire). I was wondering what you guys thoughts are on a good one and what type scope you think would be good. I want to use it for some small game hunting (rabbits / squirrels) and plinking. I know the 10-22 has alot of different modifications and up grades available. I also though about the S & W M&P 15-22. Any input is always appreciated.

Buy a Ruger 10-22,you'll never regret it!

I have a Marlin mdl 60 in stainless and am not disappointed one bit. It is every bit as accurate as any other off the shelf 22 out there.

Browning TBolt, leupold scope

I've a savage MKII. It shoots very accurately...the trigger is a cinch to adjust. They're inexpensive, and work well. I'll say that I had feeding problems with mine, but it was from over-oiling the bolt and installing the bolt improperly. Easy fixes :D

********************************************* You can't beat a Ruger 10/22. For the money you won't get anything better.I would stay away from the Remington 597. Some like the Glenfield /Marlin M60.When I worked for a gunshop years ago that had a range. I saw several M60's with jamming problems.I had one until someone wanted more then I did. It jammed once in awhile. No if it was me looking I wouldn't look any further then the Ruger 10/22. |
get a Henry ,,,,,,.holds shorts and longs...nice rifle and quality made..

I love my Ruger 10-22 Sporter with Nikon 4x32 ProStaff scope on it although many squirrels and rabbits will disagree.

Have you seen the prices on a Browning T-Bolt lately? That's if you can find one.
10/22's are fun, you can tinker all you want with them. Although you wont regret owning a better rifle. |
