I have gotten about $550 in gift cards from Gander mountain. I am looking at buying another shotgun.

I am wanting another semi-auto, maybe a double barrel. First I was looking at the new mossberg semi-auto in 20 ga. Now I am not sure I would use a 20 ga very much. This gun would be used for duck, geese, and as a back up on upland trips.

Now I am considering the following in 12 ga.

Stoeger 2000

Mossberg 930 or 935

Oh also I would like a gun that either has a thumb safety or a safety that is behind the trigger(back of trigger guard). My browning is behind, and my benelli is in front, I have problems getting to the safety on my benelli.



Any input or other suggestions would be great.

I don't think Mossberg makes the 930 or the 935 in 20ga

So if a 20ga semi-auto is what you want look into Remington

You are right the 930 (3 in) and 935 (3 1/2 in) are 12 ga, but the sa20 made by mossberg international is a 20 ga.

Another 12 ga is what I think I want!!

I'd opt stoeger. The benelli background is appealing.

Ive have had a black 26" stoeger 2000 for a few years now, and its the only shotgun i currently own, or feel i really need right now. i like it cause its light, very easy to clean, and its dependable. i hunted ducks in some flooded timber this year, and it got alot of mud and alge in the action and it just kept blamm'n away. it did freeze a couple Xs in cold weather, but I think it just had too much water and oil in the action, cause as soon as it warmed up it was fine. its a great gun for the price!

I love mine. It shoots everything from light 1 oz target loads to full tilt 3" turkey loads without a hiccup, and it's well made. Light, too, which is nice. It's the best value semi-auto shotgun out there right now, IMO.

If you decide to buy a pump, look at the Browning BPS. Great shotgun.

I went and bought the stoeger 2000 today, have to wait my 24 hours will pick up tomarrow.

You made a good choice. When you read the owners manual, you'll not that Stoeger recommends 1 1/4oz payload, 3 dram eq. shells for the "minimum" load. Basically, field loads. It'll also mention a break in period. I followed the break in recommendation, and did notice a significant improvement in the speed and smoothness of cycling as it loosened up. I also shot some 3" shells through it as a test. It was 100% reliable from the start with everything I fed it. After the break in period I've had it out to do some informal trap shooting with the Wal-Mart special 100 round value pack target loads which are 1 1/8 oz and they shoot fine.
