Action Integrated Scope Mounts

Why don't more rifles come with scope mount integrated into the action, like the Ruger MKII? Is there a down side that I'm not seeing to this set up? Is it cost?

Looking for some opinions, facts and experience if you've got it.

Thanks

Tom

That is a good question...I have a M77 MKII and really like the integrated mounting system......it has been problem free for right at 10 years now. Tikka's mounting system is pretty good as well.

They tend to be strong and trouble free for sure. However, often times, some mounting options are decreased. Case in point is Sako. Their Optilocks are pricey, often hard to get, and only a handful of manufacturers have tapered dovetail set-ups to fit correctly.

Its much better if you trash the ones that it comes with and put Talleys on it. Believe me.
