Does anyone else shoot a 338-06???
I think my wife may have bought me a Cooper rifle chambered in 338-06 for Christmas?
Does anyone else shoot this round? What can you guys tell me about this round? Thanks, WK |
Its not gonna b easy to find ammo for!

You "think" your wife may have bought this rifle. This is no off the shelf rifle, I could see it if you said a 12 gauge 870, but a Cooper .338-06. So what makes you think she bought it, something must have tipped you off? I don't own one but it looks like an awesome caliber, I'm not a fan of magnum rounds so if you want something a little larger and with a little more energy than a .30 caliber, this should work great. I hope that you handload.

As Centaur 1 stated, that's not an off the shelf rifle. The 338-06 is a great round, but it's not something you'll easily find in local gun shops. You can find it on line though. I believe A-Square and weatherby produce ammo for it. Be prepared to pay between $60-$70 for a box of 20. If you reload, you'll have a great selection of bullets to work with.

My wife did not buy me the Cooper 338-06.
She asked me what I wanted for Christmas & I told her a Cooper chambered in 338-06. I caught her coming out of the local gun store that sells Coopers, they did not have one in stock. She does know her guns & she did not want to try and locate one on short notice. I reload so factory ammo is not a factor. Looks like I will be buying one after taxes are filed. |
