If you're locked into a .22 cal rifle the 22-250 is the choice over a .223. Frankly, I'd look at a .308 or 25-06. The recoil is manageable, you can get a good bull barrel Remington or Savage rifle without breaking your budget and components are readily available. Have fun!

If your gonna deer hunt with it,look at 243,25-06,270,280,7 mag,30-06,300 mag.223 will kill a deer,but i would not go smaller than 243.
