Default Ruger #3 question

I found a good deal on a beautiful Ruger #3 today, [.22 Hornet ], a consignment gun, and snatched it up to go with my Ruger #1's. Can any of you Ruger owners tell me if the screw in the fore end attaches to anything on the underside of the barrel or is it fastened to a bracket extending from the reciever? If, as Iv'e been told, the forearm is attached to a suspended bracket, then could the barrel be considered free floated? The previous owner had filled a couple of small holes that had been drilled in the underside of the forearm, one just in front of the sling swivel barrel band and another just behind it. I'm thinking someone was trying to install or did install screws that could be adjusted to change the upward pressure on the barrel which is a fix sometimes used on number one's. Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet and it may shoot fine, but I wondered about the fore end attachment--------John

Man I don't remember where mine attaches to and it is the gun safe at my mom's house. It was my father's gun and I just can't recall where it is.
