Thompson Center Problems???
#1
I have a T/C Encore in 270. I have never switched out the barrel and up until last season it worked just great. A couple of times last season it "dry-fired" the cartridge had a dimple on the primer, but it didn't fire. It is happening again this season. I had to reload and take another shot to get a doe last weekend.
Has anyone else had these problems and do you know of any possible remedies?

Hard to say without troubleshooting.

Are you using factory ammo or reloads? How deep is the dimple in the primer? Have you tried another brand of ammo? you maybe have ammo problems not a gun problem,Everytime I've had miss fires they are usually ammo related.

I've used different ammo through the seasons (last - this) all factory, Remington, Winchester and Federal. All types had the problem.
I do have a hammer extension - so that's a possibility.
What is an "oversized hindge pin" and where do I get one?

Don't do it. But if you so desire. Go to a gunsmith and have him match that hole to the hinge. But again, I will stress, I have been down this road, and ended up with a 1100 dollar poke stalk. Sub 0.5MOA poke stalk.

had the same problem with mine,,,,take the hammer extension off and take a flashlight and check your hammer over real well,,,my hammer was cracked and it finally broke last week,,,this has been a real problem with the encores and hammer extensions,,,quick fix= call t/c and tell them your problem,,,they will send you a prohunter hammer and just replace it yourself or take it to a local gunsmith,,,,,i have had my encore 5 yrs and would'nt trade it for anything! heres a website ,,,this guy knows encores inside and out,,,theres alot of good reading on how to tweak your gun for the best accuracy.Mike Bellm Custom TCs
