.308 factory ammo?
Okay, for all you shooting .308 factory ammo for hunting I'd appreciate knowing what type and bullet weight you are using.
I've got a Savage 10GLXP3 .308 on the way and just would like to know where to start based on your experiences. It'll be used for whitetail hunting within 200 yards, but a occasional 200+ might happen. I know.... trial and error.... and every gun is different, but I'm looking for a starting point is all cause I dont want to have to go out and buy 4 different weights and manufactureres from the start. Federal premium vital-shok w/ 165 grain sierra gameking BTSP. Out of my .308's, it's been a very accurate round.

165gr in at least a Remington Core-Lokt for deer. For larger game go to a premium bullet in at least the same weight.

150 grain Federal Fusion's for me out of my Savage Model 16 this year. Each two shot groups at the range were touching when I sighted it in, and I should have a report on how it works on a whitetail by next week....hopefully. Good luck with what ever you choose.

Remington 150 gr. Core-Lokt is my favorite. Few factory rounds will drop a deer more reliably than this old corps, reasonably priced round.
