Hornady 130gr SP is all I shoot at deer anymore...I tried CL, Power Points, Fusion, Federal Blue Box, all shoot well for hunting purposes, but the Hornadys grouped the best through my Rem 700 and are devistating when they hit.

I began shooting and reloading for a .270 in 1958. I began with Sierra 130 gr. sp and over the years have shot many, many deer with 130 gr cup and core bullets--Sierra, Speer, and Hornady. I mostly used Sierra, and Hornady, because I felt that. although they were very accurate. the Speers were a bit too tough. But, the past few years, i have been using up some old Speer hot-core paper box 130's. Of the last 5 bucks I have shot (ranges from 72 to 251 yds) with the Speers, only one moved out of his tracks, and that one only went about 30 yds. My g/f uses factory 130 gr. core-lokt's in her .270 with similar results.

For a 270win!!!
Liked mentioned no reason to change if your current choice is shooting and perfroming well. If you must or want to try anything 130 to 150 will work for deer out of the 270, just need to find the right combo for your gun and hunting situation. For deer I mostly used hornady interlocks or nosler ballistic tips in my 270wins.

Ok, so I'll throw a monkey wrench in this thread. Anyone mess around with the Federal 110 grain Barnes Triple Shocks? 3400 fps at the muzzle? Smokin. I might have to find an excuse to hunt with my 270 this year. Dang, I hope the OP didn't stock up on 130 core-lokts yet.
