Ruger Super Redhawk

I just bought a Ruger .44 magnum and want to take it deer hunting. Does anyone have a suggestion for an inexpensive scope? Has anyone reading had success harvesting a deer with a handgun? thanks.

Cheap, long eye relief and recoil don't really go together. I would look for a used leupold. My friend picked up a used leupold for about $150. I think it's 2x. I have shot some incredible 50yd groups w/ that scope on a rebarreled redhawk.

I use that exact gun 7 1/2" barrel. I have 2x scope that is not expensive but I would never recommend a cheap scope. It groups nicely with a rest. I don't want to be a cowboy with it so I keep it for under 50 yards and in for deer. Yes it's capable farther than that but it drops significantly. 50 yards or under they will drop as fast as they do with a rifle. It is a fun gun to shoot. I had my trigger done at 3 pounds of pull. Made a huge difference in accuracy. I love Ruger revolvers and they IMO are one of the best made handguns.

Ive mosty handgun hunted the past several years, with
several different models and calibers. Most scoped.
I have two SRH's one in 44 one in 480 that I am very fond of.
I like objectives around 28-32mm personally, with a magnification
no more than 4x in my opinion.
I would also agree to look at used scopes on various auction sites, or gun stores.
I do have a Weaver 4x28, that was inexpensive, that I am fond of. It has handled lots of full house 480s with no problem.

I just put this Simmons handgun scope on my Colt Trooper.

I bought it here:

It is a 2-6x32 scope. Really, 2x is better for hunting. I haven't hunted with it yet. My rifle is getting that duty. I plan to practice with it and possibly pistol hunt next year.

I've got a SuperBlackhawk and it shook the Simmons loose ... put a cheap 2x Swift scope on it and it knocks 'em dead and maintains zero ... good luck!

Try a Thompson Center scope. I put one on my first 454 just to see if they are "recoil proof" like advertised.
I had no issues.
Make sure you lap your rings, I have had scopes slide in tight rings on my SRH
