i got the same gun...was my dads and i got it when he passed....decent shooter not as good as some but not as bad as others....$350 aint a bad price at all...think my dad gave that for his with 2 mags in '90 so i dont think thats a bad price at all....only complaint i have with it is 3 round groups are a little spotty if you shoot them one after another...the barrel heats up so much it moves osme throwing normally the 3rd shot off quite a bit...target shooting wise i mean...if you let it cool between shots its a tackdriver mine is a 30-06 and we shoot 150 core locs out of it...till i get the loads done with 165 Nosler BT

I don't know anything about the 742 Woodsmaster, but my brother has the most recent 750 Woodsmaster in 270 Win and loves it. It's not a bad looking gun, adequately accurate for a deer rifle to be useful to at least 300 yards, and completely reliable. How long will it last? It's anybodies guess, but he's not a high volume shooter so probably for his lifetime. I'd buy one myself... if Browning ever stopped making the BAR! ;)

742 woodsmaster

Bought mine over 20 years ago used , mine is accurate , bolt lugs in good shape . Used it last year first time since bought bolt action. 742 cost me best buck I have ever had a chance at. I didnt close the bolt all the way trying to be quiet ,buck came in range and click!! bolt not locked ......Damn it still stings when i look at that gun..... bolts for me!!
