which grain size?
I am in the process of buying a Remington Model 700 in a .270 Winchester. So, naturally I have also been looking at ammunition. To pick my ammo I will just buy a box of each and see which I like most, but one thing I have noticed is that most bullets come in 130 grain or 150 grain, and I have also seen some 140 grain. So basically, I wanted to know the pros and cons of each and which one you would suggest? I'll be hunting white-tailed deer, but eventually when I get older I would love to go on elk or moose or what ever hunts... ha (who wouldn't).
Thanks, Vaclav |
I would go for 150gr for moose. I don't use a 270 for moose, but thats its intended purpose and of course 130gr for deer.

I use 140 gr Partitions for all my hunting with a .270. If it will be a few years before you chase the big stuff I would just shoot 130s for now, and maybe use a bigger bullet when the time comes.

whichever shot best for you, my .270 loves the cheap 130gr federals, sub MOA, and that load will certainly take a deer.
