centerfire "20"inch barrel yea or na

ive always wanted to own a 6mm remington & i finaly found 1 for a descent price problem is it has a 20 inch barrel & i keep getting different opinions about the all around performance all i want it for is for white tails no furthur than 200 yards its a 6mm rem 700 bdl for 549.00 yea or na ?

If it's what you want then get it. A couple of inches of barrel length shouldn't make a big difference under 200 yards.

Most of my bolt actions guns are all 20" barrels or shorter.. I have a Remington Mohawk 6mm, a Ruger Compact, a Remington Model 7 and they all shoot great.. The Ruger actually has 16.5" barrel and it is the better shooter..

Ive got a 20" 30-06 model 70 Winchester. A "carbine" they called it.
Its a great balancing easy carrying gun.
Feels more like a '94 winchester than a bolt gun.
One of my favorite rifles.
Muzzle blast is noticable.

Ballisatics are normally quoted by shooting from a 24" barrel

Just a thought ,But maybe you could find a .243 that suited you as far as feel and barrel length? Then if it is possible and /or probable ream the chamber out a little to make the 6 mm? Maybe some of the smarter guy's on here could give you a better idea on whether it is cost effective or not.

The good thing about a shorter barrel, its lighter, easier to carry in thick brush, the bad side its LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!
