Remington custom shop
I got my yearly bonus from work and was considering getting a new rifle from it and was wondering if the rifles from the Remington custom shop are worth the money or should I look at someting else ? The 2 calibers I'm thinking of getting is a 300 RUM or 300 WSM
Only you can determine that. It would not be my first option, but I'm not a diehard Remmy nut either.
What's the cost? aren't they close to 3grand? If so I think an HS is what I'd get for that kinda cash... 1/2MOA guarantee...
Man, how I always craved a 700 custom c!
Yeah the cheapest price I got for the Remington custom shop AWR II in 300 RUM is $2700.00 I also thought of the HS precision rifle but also might check out a Weatherby,Sako,Kimber and who knows ?
supposedly this is the best "custom rifle" deal out there...
http://www.hillcountryrifles.com/riflemain.aspx What's the intended purpose of this rifle? deer? elk? everything? how about a .270wsm? or .340wby? you already have a .300RUM? |
No way in hell would I pay what Remington wants for their "custom" rifles.
HS Precision would be my pick for that kind of cash. |
Many over the counter Remington 700's will shoot pretty darn good groups. Most can be made to shoot an inch or less groups with only a little extra effort. The custom shop guns will most likely shoot these kind of groups from the start, but are they worth the extra $2000 over the over the counter 700's? I surely don't think so. Rifles are more accurate than they ever were these days. I don't see much benefit in these high priced custom guns that will shoot only a little better. In most shooting situations you will never know the difference.
