Most definitely the game would smell the WD-40; but if they can smell that, your scent would be along with in the same scent stream as well.

Game animals will smell anything that is upwind of them.

If you want to hunt in bad weather with your rifle....go right ahead and hunt. After the hunt is done and your back at camp, home, etc... just clean it! It's not hard, doesn't take much time and if you're anything like me you'll enjoy the hell out of doing it.

Seriously don't sweat it, just clean your gun and oil it when you're done. It will be fine.

I always just dry 'er off at home and oil like always. Hopefully you invested in a waterproof scope.

I use Tetra Gun oil and grease on my guns. I think that it's one of the best lubes on the market, and it repels water like a ducks back.
