Ai ?
Would a non-AI cartridge fit in an AI action?
If so what would the result be? Tom |
The result would be fire-formed brass. For example, someone who shoots a 260ai, would fire 260 rem. to fire-form their brass.

P.O. Ackley designed his improved cartridges in such as way as to be able to fire the parent cartridge. He accomplished this by setting the neck / shoulder intersection rearward toward the breech about .005 inches in the design. The parent cartridge will therefore headspace on that intersection instead of the shoulder. Once fired the brass will be to the dimensions of the Improved chamber. Accuracy will more than likely suffer when shooting the parent cartridge in the improved chamber.

.........Absolutely correct...........My .243 AI didn't shoot the parent .243 Win. quite that well, but I was surprised at how well it did. I've heard other Ackley owners tell the same story.
