anyone here have their ffl?
 

Im just wondering if its hard to get? i have quite a collection, but im not really interested in the selling part. I just come across alot of deals online and on auction sites and u need a ffl to purchase. is it hard to obtain one?

You are speaking of an 01 FFL or what is commonly referred to as an FFL for doing commercial business of non NFA type weapons. You can always fill out the forms which can be ordered from ATF.gov and send them the check and give it a go. You'll end up having an ATF agent visit your premises to verify compliance with adequate storage and safeguards, etc. More than likely you will have to register as a business with a tax ID number... The ATF is really getting difficult to deal with with regard to people doing firearms business out of their homes. Unless of course you are a gunsmith with a shop at your residence, etc...

If you only want to "collect" curio and relic (antique) firearms you can easily get an 03 FFL (C&R FFL). You cannot conduct business under this FFL... Meaning it is meant for you to acquire and dispose of antique arms and not buy and sell to make income. It also gets you dealer pricing at places such as MidwayUSA and Brownells, etc. (I have my 03 FFL for the last reason stated... has easily paid for itself).

Daycare huh...that would probably go over (with the Feds) like a turd in a punch bowl. :(

i was thinking the samething but owning guns and doing daycare is not illegal. you also have inspection for that. if they are locked up, its no problem

I have been wondering this my self. Thought about it a year or two ago maybe one day.

Pre-inspection of your location before licensing and yearly visit at a minimum to inspect your bound book, inventory and other records... Pretty much SOP...

Quite honestly, if this only for your personal use to have guns shipped directly to you it will not be worth it. Like has been stated you will need to send in the check for the processing fee, apply for a business permit, maintain a logbook, be available for inspections when the ATF notifies you and have adequate safety measures which usually include much better than the average home owner gun safes, an alarm system and have insurance for your firearms related business, by the time all is said and done it probably wouldn't be worth the cost just to be able to have some guns shipped to you directly.

im starting to think that, i think ill just find someone with a ffl that i can pay 25 bucks to have a gun shipped too them
