Would you buy a gun with a off center sling stud?
 

I've seen several guns that have the sling studs in the stock not perfectly centered. More like 1/4" off or so to one side. It's pretty obvious when looking at them straight on. This got me to thinking would you all buy a gun that had the sling stud off center? Wouldn't this greatly lower the value? Or am I the only one that gets annoyed by this?

If the gun was discounted to reflect it you bet I would. It would have to be a gun that I am wanting in the first place though, and not just buying because it is discounted.

How much should you expect someone to knock off the price due to this? I'm not looking at one now but I was just wondering in case I ever found one in the future I liked that was like that. Although, I'd have to really like it to buy it like that unless you could have it fixed somehow.

Most are only off center about 1/16 of an inch. But that little amount can make it look like it is waaaaaay off.

in order to fix it you simply drill out the hole just barely as large as the existing hole and glue in a short piece of dowel and shape it. Re-drill the hole in the center and install the stud. Obviously you want to take around the hole so you don't damage the stock.

I would. I never use a sling.

Yes...easy fix and stocks on factory guns are generally not all that great anyway. I have a Remington LSS Mtn. rifle I got a sweet deal on because it had a chip in the pistol grip cap.

I would say discount it 10%. But like was said before, a lot of factory stocks have flaws in them and the sling studs being off a bit is fairly common and is not that hard of a fix. At least in a wood stock it isn't.
