Not even close IIRC a 3 1/2" turkey load has #70 plus of recoil energy

I shot my 12ga H&R once with 31/2 while sitting on a ATV, it almost knocked me off it. 1 shot was enough for me!!!

When I first started hunting deer in NYS it was a shotgun only county. I had no choice but to get used to recoil. 12 gauge 2 3/4" slugs have enough recoil for me.

An old duck shooting pal of mine used to grip his Mossberg in such a way that he frequently punched himself in the nose with his right thumb under recoil fairly often. I even saw a bloody nose a few times. Poor guy never gave up though !

Try an old single shot 12 gauge with a 3.5" mag.

I agree, stupid to dig up this thread. The OP was a little off. LOL

That said, for turkey hunting I use a 10ga single shot 36" barrel, with 3 1/2" mag turkey loads -- All I can say is good thing it doesn't have a scope

I know everyone has their reasons, but may I ask Why? Not to mention the cost of possibilty of a lifetime of physical damage due to this? That and the cost of such a weapon and rounds!!! Just curious. I have had more than my share of being kicked senseless by 10ga's and 300 Win Mags. Not too mention cases upon cases of HEAVY waterfowl and turkey loads of both lead and steel. That and the cases of slugs and buckshot from work for training in the 22+ yrs as a LEO.But l will jump in just for S&G's. My worst was a 577 Double rifle. Liked to broke my jaw and nose.
