Question for the 10/22 owners
Hello all. For the first time tonight I disassembled my 10/22 to give it a thorough cleaning.
Along the inside top of the receiver, the charging rod handle has worn the powdercoat down to exposed metal. I am not worried about rust but it seems strange that this would happen. Does anyone else have worn down powder coat along the inside of their receivers? This is a blue rifle, not stainless, and it is fairly new: less than a year old with about 500 rounds through it. Thanks. |
This is totally normal for the 10/22. The receiver is made from aluminum which is very hard to get paint to stick to. I wish they would anodize it.

i wouldn't worry. i've used the same 10/22 since 1974 or thereabouts. many thousands of rounds thru it. still shoots great and functions every time as long as i avoid the el-cheapo ammo.

Your fine it happens to them all. It is aluminum as stated previously, and there is a reason they came up with anodized aluminum, and that is cause paint sticks poorly to it. Don't worry one bit.

Thanks guys! I really appreciate your reassurance.
