Default Bought a Savage Mod lll .338

Hey guys, I got a great deal on this .338 ($50.00). My buddy used it in Alaska a couple of times and havent used it since. There was slight surface rust and he removed with fine steel wool, so I need to reblue it, no big deal. My question, I dont need anything this big in NC but I heard .338 kicks like a mule. I shoot a 7mm mag and 12 gauge slugs, does it kick harder than those? I also about died when I priced a box of shells. Thanks in advance.

Recoil is subjective and varies by gun / stock design, weight, bullet, etc. But, the short answer is that it is rather STOUT!

Consider the money you saved and buy yourself a reloading kit. Then you can load it down to puppy status. or all the way up. There are some very cheap kits out there. You can also find the stuff used for pennies on the dollar.

a .338 win mag is a puppy...well probably the least kicking of the .338 magnums...

shooting off hand I don't think you'll have any worries, find a load you like and stick with it, once you get it sighted in the bench, you won't be worrying about kick again...

I believe it holds less powder than a .300win mag...but I'd put it in that kick category

great deer, elk, bear gun...use it!

Shoot some 200, 210, or 225grs.
