Anyone shoot a Browning X-Bolt?
Im looking for a real nice gun for my girlfriend. She has a Remington Model 710 but doesnt like it, she wants a nice wood stock. I found the Browning X-Bolt (specifically Micro Hunter) and that looks like a really nice gun. Does anyone have any experience with this gun or any X-Bolt models?
Also, im just curious, whats the difference between a 7MM and 7MM-08? |
Almost any rifle is a step up from the POS 710.As far a 7mm goes,it does not stipulate any particular cartridge. There are many 7mm cartridges including the 7mm-08,the 7x57,the 280rem,the 7mmremmag,7mmwsm,7mmwby,7mmstw,7mmRUM etc.
The 7mm-08 is a short action cartridge using a 284" bullet that has mild recoil, and decent ballistics. |
X Bolts
I have an X Bolt (wood, blue) in 300WSM. It's a very nice rifle. IMO, the Micro Hunter in something like 7mm-08 would be ideal for your sweetie.:D

She wants something that doesnt kick real hard, but will also be big enough for if some day we want to maybe go on a big elk hunt or something. Will that still work? |
The 7mm-08 would be a fine choice. When she is ready to tackle an elk, load up some 140gr TTSXs.
