Montana Rifle Company ?
What do you guys know about there rifles?
What is the accuracy like? I'm weighing buying a Montana action and barrel and building it up as opposed to buying the Winchester M70. Tom |
I've looked around on the internet and found some really bad reviews or thier stuff and really good reviews. Anyone here have any personal experience with them?

Montana Rifle Co. questions...
Here is a suggestion. Go to the forums at S.W.F.A., join up, and post your questions there (in the gun section). John Barnsness is an active member and posts there a lot. He can fill you in for sure. He possesses a wealth of knowledge. Good luck.:D

I re-barreled a Ruger 77 MK II with a Montana stainless steel barrel in .270 Winchester. This rifle consistently shoots .5 to 1 MOA. Last February, on a very cold and calm day, I was able to shoot a .490" six shot group, and a .181" three shot group at 100 yards, both groups center to center. These groups were shot with hand loads, 55 gr of H4831SC, 130 gr Nosler Ballistic Tips, Winchester Case, and Fed 210 primers.
I had a local gunsmith install the barrel. I'm considering re-barreling a Remington 700 with a 7x57 Mauser barrel from Montana. |
The one's I've heard about are good...but in order to be great they need some smithing work...

Yup that's about what I've read so far on the net.
I'll just go with a factory action based on what I've read. Tom |
