Haven' t seen one in person yet but I did just buy a Whitetail Hunter. Haven' t shot it yet but I love the gun and all the reviews I' ve seen say they are wonderfull.

Should be arriving at your local dealer soon from what my guys tell me. Keep calling them until they arrive.

Well, I looked at a T3 yesterday, in 243 stainless. I have to say I like the Whitetail Hunter better. The stock on the T3 feels hollow plastic like. I did like the magazine a little better due to the way it ejects (no big button on the side) but the unit itself felt pretty cheap. Probalby ok I bet, just weird. Still, had the same Sako barrel and a good smooth action so I think it would still be a great rifle. I would buy one if I couldn' t get the Hunter model.

Yesterday, I saw and handled a Tikka T3. My initial impression is that it isn' t up to Whitetail Hunter standards. They dropped the price and threw in a set of rings, something has to give. I saw the synth stock/blued barrel and the synth stock/ stainless barrel. To me, they just don' t have the solid feel of the Whitetail Hunter.
I also yesterday rtead an article in the May issue of Guns and Ammo by Wayne Van Zwoll (sp). Reading a bit between the lines and noting certain wording his test verifies my impressions. He stated " Generally they were accurate, he was getting groups of an inch and a half (most Whitetail Hunters do better), he also stated he got his best groups with a tight sling which signifies to me that there is a bedding problem. I' m sure it is a " good gun" and worth the money but, and this is strictly my impression, it' s not the gun the Whitetail is. I' m still trying to locate a Whitetail with synth stock/blued barrel. I did see one last Tuesday but it was in Kansas City. Ray
