Lightning Vs. Red Label?

Lightning Vs. Red Label?
Well I have looked at both and I have shot the Red Label but not the Citori. they are both around the same price range but I am curious if there are any big set backs or differences between the two that I may want to be aware of?
It seems chokes are easier to find for the Browning with is a plus but also the Ruger is made here in the States which is also neat.
Anywho....Just curious what those who have shot them think?
Thanks!

I don't think you can go wrong with either. If you were talking about the older Belgium Browning Superposed I'd tell you to get the Browning hands down as the quality of those guns are superb.
I think this one will boil down to your personal preference and which shotgun feels best to you when you shoulder it.
Good luck and don't forget to post a picture!

Hey Big J... What's your take on the Beretta 686 Onyx???
I had suggested this to Mr. Bailey...

Ed,
The Beretta 686 Onyx is a great shotgun. It's gonna run ya some cash unless you find a Sporting or Essential grade gun. I think the White (and or the rest of the special grade guns) will get pretty expensive.
I was just giving my opinion on the two he suggested, there are a lot of great O/U guns out there to be had....for sure!

Is there much of any differences between the Lightning and White Lightning?
And on the ruger....straight or pistol grip?
Thanks!

I believe the White lightning has the silver colored (in the white) receiver and probably has more detailed engraving than the all blue standard lightning . Browning (as with most manufacturers) has many different levels or grades of shotguns. The higher the grade the more you pay.
As far as straight or pistol grip, it again has more to do with how it feels for you. Personally I prefer a straight grip while hunting upland birds as it just feels faster and more natural for me to shoulder the shotgun especially with the different layers of clothing I might have on depending on the time of year. Sporting clays, trap skeet, etc... I like a pistol grip.

What would the pistol grip do for you better for clays? More control possibly?
The lighting has a gloss finish and the white lightning has a satin finish...any advantages to gloss or satin?
Thank you!

For me, the pistol grip gives me a better feel for the shotgun and thus a better anchor. However, due to the size of my hand(s), I need to position them correctly and this takes me a split second longer than with a straight grip. I have time when shooting clays, trap skeet, etc.. but when wing shooting sometimes a bird will kick up out of nowhere and I need to make a snap shot. In that situation I prefer the straight grip because I don't have to be perfect with my grip to knock the bird down. I'd rather give the better "feel" for quicker shouldering.
Gloss = shiny Satin = less shiny....personal preference

RE: Lightning Vs. Red Label?
So for about the $1500 range...are the Lightnings and Red Labels the best choice?
I dont know too much about many other o/u's besides these so if there is one that is significantly better or nice for about the same price range...$1500, please let me know!
thanks!
