Thanks Mike for pointing out my slip up on the Hornady bullet. I was indeed referring to the Interbond with its controlled expansion which allows it to penetrate deeper with twice the bullet diameter size expansion and also the jacket will not seperate from the core.

I wouldn't worry if they're running 50 yards or so after the shot. In my experience, the only time you're guaranteed a bang-flop on any big game animal is if you hit the brain or the spinal cord. I've seen deer with their heart cut in half still run 100 yards on pure adrenaline before they collapse. So if you want a bang-flop every time, I would aim for a head shot.

Otherwise, it wouldn't be a bad idea to switch to a heavier bullet to make sure you're getting good penetration & an exit wound for tracking purposes if they do run off a little ways.

Agree with head shot. I shot 400lb hog behind ear and he didnt even oink. Dad shot 250lb this year in ear and it dropped. Mine with .270 and Dad's with .243 and 95 grain Ballistic tip.

If they kill hogs every time I would not worry about it much. Even though Core Lokt's may not be the toughest bullet out there, they still are big game bullets not varmit bullets. I've seen accubonds not penetrate elk as well as they should have. Ammo makers love having new bullets to sell the new and improved crowd. I'd just pick a heavier and slower caliber like a 444 marlin and watch the hogs roll.
