7mm Rem.Mag model 70 140 grain ballistic tip pushed by a pretty stout charge of imr 4320.Drops them like the "Hammer of Thor"next would be the Sako AV in 25-06 with a 117 grainhornady interbond with a max load of RL 22 .It just likes the max load.

I don't have one but am intrigued to see how the .338 Federal performs on game. I'd like one as a woods rifle for both deer and elk...the 200gr Fusion should be all I'd need.

RE: Favorite caliber and load for whitetails....
I prefer a bow, but when I gun hunt I like my 30-06 with 180gr Fusion SP ammo. After that I'll take my 300 WBY, which I know is overkill, with 180gr SP Weatherby ammo.
Surprisingly, the 30-06 will drop them in their tracks most of the time, but the 300 WBY goes through them so fast at close range they don't know they are dead until they have gone 30-40 yards.
