270wsm vs 308??

I can take my X-bolt 270wsm or my remington XCR tactical on my combo elk/bear hunt this fall, the 140gr accubond is moving 3000 fps with 2900 ft lbsversus 308 169 Grain TTSX @2600fps and 2600ft lbs energy. The 270 is a bit flatter....would it make a difference to take either one?/
Thanks

Either 1 will work fine IF you do your part. Do you like 1 over the other or shoot it better? That's the 1 to take.

Either one will do the job, though I'd probably opt for a fairly tough, deep penetrating bullet for both like the Barnes TSX. I think that it would really come down to which rifle you shoot better and want to carry. There are a lot of people that will tell you the 270 WSM is too small for elk, but I figure that if the 6.5x55 Swede is good enough for European moose, for which it's used regularly and successfully for 100 years, then the 270 WSM will darn well kill an elk.

Actually, I think if I were you I'd take both rifles with me. Never hurts to have a backup rifle back at the truck in case something breaks.

Just because of the weight alone I would take the X-Bolt. That Remington tactical is going to be a bit heavy to be lugging around in the mountains.

Either caliber will work just fine one elk.

I agree with BB, the weight of the tactical would be detrimental for carrying.

I agree with driftrider about trying a barnes bullet in the 270wsm. It loaded with 140gr barnes would be my 1st choice of the 2 mentioned. I have used the Accubond for moose and elk. In my 7mm remmag 140 TSX are my choice for moose and elk. In my 338wm the 225gr AB shoots very well and so far has performed well, so for the moment it is my choice.I plan to work onthe Barnes load more this year for it as well. I love nolser bullets but for elk/moose the TSX has been awesome and would be my 1st choice for this application. In terms of bear both will do the trick.
