RE: Ruger 10/22
I would replace the scope base with a Weaver TO-9, add Burris signature rings and top it with a 3-9 or 4-12 scope. I' d make sure the scope is Adjustable Objective(AO). That means that you adjust the focus based on the distance you will be shooting to make sure both the target and the crosshairs are in focus.
If you want to go cheaper, there are scopes that are made for rimfires that have an objective set for like 50 yards. The Simmons 22Mag is one, I think. You can also replace the bolt stop (steel) with a polymer buffer. That will (IMHO) reduce the small recoil that the 10/22 has and keep you on target for follow-up shots. Brian. Check out www.rimfirecentral.com for a ton of info on the 10/22. |
RE: Ruger 10/22
I bought my son a 10/22 for Christmas last year. Unless you' ve got the target model the first thing you should do is have the trigger lightened. The stock trigger feels like it' s got a 10 pound pull. [:@] I put a Leupold 3X9X40 Vari-x II with the Leupold base and rings. He just shot it Saturday and was keeping consistant 2.5" groups at 40 yards. (He' s only 8 years old.) I haven' t had his trigger worked on yet for safety reasons but will probably get that done by the end of summer.

RE: Ruger 10/22
I couldn' t agree more about the trigger on a 10/22. You can get a drop in hammer and sear that will really improve your trigger pull.
