What would you pay for this gun.....
Remington 700 .223
Bull barrel and 3.5 x12 Simmons scope(I know the scope isn't worth crap). He started at $750 and I asked how much without the scope and said same money. Said it hasn't been shot but to site in and very little since. Comes with box and papers. Sounds like I'm the only person that has shown interest in it and he's now at $675 w/o scope. He's posting it on a local classified ad. I really want this gun but i'm having a hell of a time convincing my wife since I just got my XDm about 2months ago. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
Sweet rifle, offer $600, nice rifles at a good price are hard to find, ex-wifes are not.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I own the same model rifle chambered in 22-250. My rifle is a tack driver. IF I did not alreadyown a 223, I would want to buy this one. Offer him $650-with the scope. Used rifles do not hold there value.
I paid $550 for my22-250that looks identical to this rifle, my rifle was NIB Ibought itat a local gun store. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I'd wave $6 bills in front of him. Once it's shot it's no longer NIB. IMO, $750 is too much.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
..............Uhhhh.....Would he take the wife as partial trade?? Worth asking..........
IMO about $650 would be OK...With scope... |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I myself won't give over 500 dollars for a used 700 BDL. Thats me. I find em for that price pretty regularly, and sold about 10 in my life for that or around.

No more than $500.00 max!

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I'd give $500, maybe $550 if it's in absolutely perfect shape. If he thinks you're lowballing him, tell him to try to sell it to a gun dealer and see what he's offered. It may be nearly new, but it's still used and almost all new firearms lose significant value the instant the first round goes down the pipe. He should also understand that the scope isn't worth anything toward the value of the used rifle. All of the cheap China specials aren't worth crap for resale. If he had a Leupold, Zeiss, Nikon or other mid to high end scope on it it'd be worth more, but not with a Simmons. I'd offer him $500 cash-in-hand without the scope. If he wants to dicker, I'd go as high as $550. If he won't take $550, take your cash and go scour the local gun and pawn shops. I'd bet that sooner or later you'd find another similar Model 700 for $500 or less.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
another vote for offering $500.... if you go there and show some bills he'll probably take it. if not leave your number and walk out. Maybe he'll call you.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
500 or 550, but no more, and that's only if you have some .223 stockpiled already. That stuff is hard to find right now, and the price has gone up. If you buy it, you gotta feed it. Just something to think about.

I'm a reloader.
I already have the dies and 100 rnds of brass. Can get more off gunbroker but have been picking it up at my gun club |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
If you can roll your own, then 550 would be a good buy.
If you are looking for brass, find out where your local LEO's go to shoot. They drop plenty of new brass shooting that qualifying course with the AR. Most dept.'s favor public rifle ranges like a wildlife management area. Call the rangemaster on site, sometimes police shoot on days the range is closed to the public. Bring a couple of buckets. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
Well, I can tell you that if he brought it toagun shop theywould offer him about$490andit would sell retail usedfor about $700 (based on2009 distributor wholesale). Assuming it is in excelent condition.
Current NEW IN BOXretail would be about $880. With this said I believe that a decent private party price would be about $600. I hope this helps in your decision. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I have the same rifle in 243 and its a great shooting gun sub inch groups with the cheap stuff awsome when you feed it homemade stuff. Mine was in in perfect shape other than it had a box of shells thru it. It had a nikon monarch 4x12x40ao bdc on it and I only give $625 at a gun shop.Keep in mind it will need a trigger job.Dont pay to much $500 sounds fair

I hate to see the good stuff get stepped on or go to crap in the weather. I have several reloading friends that we trade brass because we don't all shoot the same calibers. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I'd offer $500-550 no more. Myself personally I wouldn't buy a Remington, too many bad experiences with quality control and customer service. For the same money buying new you can get a CZ, Browning, Ruger or such. In my opinion Savage would be the choice for a strictly varmint rifle.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
You can purchase a new Remington 700 Varmint, laminated stockfor $550 without the scope
|
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I think 500 is the max it has been shot that means used Period.I would say you could get a new one for 675 or darn close.

RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
I know I got a good deal, but I just purchased the exact gun from a friend of a friend for $450 with a sightron SI 3x9 scope. I would have given $525-$550 if he had asked. It is a great shooting guneven thoughmine has a 5.5 lb factory trigger pull. I mounted a 4x12X40 I had in my gun cabinet. It averages around 0.6" groups at 100 yds. Can only imagine what it would do with an 6x18 scope and a 2.5 lb trigger.

ORIGINAL: Sniper151 You can purchase a new Remington 700 Varmint, laminated stockfor $550 without the scope If this is the gun you want, see what you can buy itfor new. If you are going to get this exact gun no matter what, you might as well save some money with this guy. Tell him your best deal new and he should be willing to save you some dough or just buy new.:D |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
You can purchase a new Remington 700 Varmint, laminated stockfor $550 without the scope We buy Remington direct and have access to all firearmsdistributors and wholesale is over $700. If C.L.D. knows a dealer thatis selling it for $775 (probably gunsamerica.com) they aren't making crap on that rifle.Unless they are selling out of their house they wouldn't be able to keep the lights on in a retail storeif they sell all of their firearms at such a low mark up. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
Bigbulls is correct. The placeI know of that is that cheap is an online store. A retail store could never offer such low prices.
Bigbulls,I sent you a pm with a link. |
RE: What would you pay for this gun.....
$500 max. I know he said it's never been fired but as soon as they leave the dealer, they are not worth as much.
