RE: Build an Upper?
from what i understand you need a special block to hold the receiver in a vice
need a barrel wrench and probably taps
to be honest with ya you can buy a good upper these days that won't cost you an arm and a leg
you may have to wait a little while though to get it
then again maybe not since it is just an upper
i have 2 ar's
one is a 16" 1/9 twist pencil barrel, real light and nice to carry
the other is a standard 20" 1/8" twist, better for those heavy bullets like 77 gr
both are free floating, a must as far as i'm concerned
to be honest a 16" is really all you need
find what grain of ammo it likes and your pretty much set
both my guns are from model 1 sales
some people bash them
don't fall for it
the barrels are made by E.R. Shaw and are solid
the rest is just standard furniture unless you want to throw a rail on it or something
you can get a really nice upper for like 300-500 bucks from model 1 sales
check them out
