Ruger 10/22

I'm thinking of getting a Ruger 10/22 Sporter. I know you can customize them. I'm going to use mine for varmints etc. I know alot of people love these guns and I was just wondering what everyone else has done to theres for the same applications i'm going to use mine for.

Other than putting on a scope mine's dead stock. If you plan to use open sight's I would strongly recommend replacing the stock ones with fiber sights.Thats about all it really needs other than maybe a sling IMO.

Tricked out one for my grandson (he's a few years from being able to shoot it).
PC auto bolt release
Voltquartsen handle/spring and guide rod
Polished and trued trigger group
20" fluted blue GM barrel
chamfered factory bolt
buffer
Leupold VXII 4x12 scope
modified factory stock bedded in Devcon
Shoots most excellent and fucntions very well with most all ammo.
looks alot like this -

yes, it is an awesome gun. The only thing ive added is a couple of banana clips. Mine shoots well enough, that I dont find the need for a scope.

The VERY 1st thing I would recommend is to change the hammer to get a much better, easier to shoot accurately trigger pull and scope it. Later on, you might consider replacing the barrel with a match quality barrel & an Hogue stock for it. The barrel will shoot any kind of ammo better than the loose chambered factory barrel, but will really shine when you find ammo it likes. I currently have 3 of them, all reworked.

Triggers are typicaly horrible, do some stone work on the hammer or replace with quality aftermarket parts. Changing the barrel is also a good thing. Can make a huge difference.
