RE: 22. LR rifle
The only .22 I would buy is the 10/22. I have an old Marlin 60 would like to get rid of it. But not to anyone I know.

RE: 22. LR rifle
The Marlin Model 39 is excellent. I also like the Win 9422.....
The Moosbergs I've shot were very accurate, but not esthetically pleasing... |
RE: 22. LR rifle
Everyone should own at least one 10/22.

RE: 22. LR rifle
model 60 - over 11 million of them sold and theres a reason why - that micro rifling or what ever they call it makes them accurate little suckers. People can blow money on 10/22 accessories and make them look tactical or what ever but at the end of the day, its a .22, shoots like a .22, end of story. Its a plinking machine and nothing plinks more accurate for the money than a model 60.

RE: 22. LR rifle
I like my Marlin bolt action and also have a couple Ruger 10/22's. It is hard to go wrong with any .22. The next one I buy will be a Marlin 39 though everytime I try to buy one they are sold out.

RE: 22. LR rifle
How come there isn't an,"none of the above" choise?

RE: 22. LR rifle
son why - that micro rifling or what ever they call it makes them accurate little suckers. People can blow money on 10/22 accessories and make them look tactical or what ever but at the end of the day, its a .22, You can customize them just about anyway you want and make them very very accurate. I bought plans with the intent to change the barrel at least and maybe a few other things however, it's impressed me and is as accurate as I want it to be so I never changed anything on it. I will say mine stovepipes a lot with Federal bulk pack ammo. I've read some others do and some don't. It does pretty well with Winchester bulk pack ammo but still stove pipes some. Compared to a few other guns I've used that have never jammed on me it jams a lot however, for plinking it's no big deal to me. Just stove pipes some. With the Federals ever few shots. With Winchesters maybe a time or two in 50 rounds or so. Sometimes might not do that. I'm not that some of it isn't the aftermarket magazines. However, the Federals jam in the 10 round one too. I really like this gun though and like I said wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. |
RE: 22. LR rifle
I have or have had a few 10/22s and they are alot of fun to tinker with and for the most part quite accurate with a little work. Just finished building one for my grandson when he is old enough to use it. With that I also have a Marlin Model 70 which is identical to a 60 but clip fed and not tube fed...new gun gifted to me by a friend who owed me. In their original form, hands down the Marlin was more accurate and less trouble than the Ruger, costs less and every bit as fun to shoot.
I like the 10/22 for all the aftermarket fun you can get. |
RE: 22. LR rifle
Be a cowboy! Where's the winchester lever action .22LR ?

RE: 22. LR rifle
CZ 452, there is no other factory 22lr as accurate.
If you are dead set on a semi, the remington 597 is actually the most accurate factory rifle since tc quit making theirs. I have a m60 it's trigger is probably the worst I have come across. I would get rid of it but it belonged to my grandfather. I have a 10/22 worked over for benchrest competition. It will do the same as a CZ (less than 1 moa) but for $150 more. |
RE: 22. LR rifle
If going auto 10/22 is the way.I have had Marlin autos but jamming was always a problem. The 10/22 has never jammed with me.I paid a gunsmith $50 to lighten the trigger on my 10/22 and it will keep 10 shots @50 yards inside of an inch and 5 shots@ 100 yards inside of 1-1/2",this is with Stinger ammo as I have never tried match ammo just the ammo I hunt with.If I was worried about accuracy I would get a bolt gun,but just for plinking and hunting the 10/22 is hard to beat.
