Rem. VS. Ruger...felt recoil comparison

Ok.....After asking around about Remington and Ruger rifles I've had a few people say that in larger calibers they felt like Remington rifles seemed to kick less or have less "felt" recoil.

After the first time or two I heard that I just dismissed it.....and then I kept hearing it.

Am I just getting bad info here or do you folks agree???

If I had a Remington CDL and a Ruger M77 Hawkey BOTHin .300 Win. Mag. (just for instance) BOTH with identical recoil pads.......would one have any more "felt" recoil than the other?.....and if you think so....why?

I'm in the process of deciding what platform to build a custom rifle on, and I like both Remington and Ruger for different reasons.....

Any help would be appreciated

No expert here but the only reason I could think that there would be a difference is because one wieghs more than the other?
Also but no sure on this, stock design?

That seems to be the general answer when I ask them "why" they feel like Remington rifles pound a little less than Rugers......stock design.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this????

it could be stock design most remmys have raised cheek piece and bdls have a monte carlo comb but most rugers have a straight comb stock and no cheek piece

My brother has a Remington 700 in .270 and a Ruger M-77 in .270...

I clean and check the scpoes on both each season, I can't tell any difference...

Felt recoil is more mental than anything. I've never heard anyone say that rugers generally kick harder the remingtons but if that what some people think already than when they go to shoot the two they will probably "feel" more recoil with the ruger. Its called self fulfilling prophecy

Felt recoil is unmeasurable boils down to personal or individualized. AKA; fit(rifle to shooter -stock design,etc)&/or mental.

Difference in weight with rifle, bullet and charges are measurablein terms offree recoil produced. Obvisouly if differences exist in these inputs it effects the output (recoil).

My experience has been when I shoulder a rifle that fits/feels good the rest takes care of itself. If the opposite happens I pleasantly hand it back and say next please;)!

There's only 2 factors that determine different recoil levels for different rifles shooting identical loads-that's weight and stock drop. An minor factor is when the cheekpiece falls away from the cheek vs smacking the cheek.

The Monte Carlo cheekpiece is said to give less felt recoil, since the comb slides out from under your cheekbone instead of cracking you in the face.
