vaquero in 44-40

Iwas thinking of getting a 44-40. Anybody ever shot one. Was wondering how felt recoil compared to 357 mag. Favorite loads, availability of brass. etc, etc Anyone?

The 44-40 is a good round. Not much differant than a 44special. If you reload, they can be kind of a pain because the case has a small shoulder and the brass is thin.
Take your time and make sure you case is square in the shell holder.

I have a vaquero in .44-40.It is a "fun gun"The ammo is kinda hard to get if you don't reload and quite expensive.(at least it is here in Va.)

The 44-40 seems to be getting more popular because of the Cowboy action shooting.I think you would be better off getting a Vaquero in 45 Colt. The ammo and brass are allot easier to come by.That's just my opinion.Ruger Redhawk
