RE: 30-06
Theres something about a model 700 and my large hands...it just fits....
I have an older model 70 in 30-06 with open sights...shoots well.
I dont think ive met a 30-06 yet from Ruger, Rem, Savage, ect that hasnt shot under 2.5 which is fine for hunting purposes.

My Rem 700XCR that shoots clover leaf groups with off-the-shelf $13.00 per box Federal 'Power Shok' ammo. Notonly the best shooter but I also call it my lucky rifle as I killed 7 deer in the past 3 seasons with it including 2 bucks over 250 pounds, and 2 does pushing 200 pounds.

There are quite a few action types around these days, is one any better than another for inherent accuracy no not really. Like they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It's all a matter of preference, I personally prefer Mauser actions, others like Remington, Tikka etc, etc. It's all in how you feel about it.

Personally, I love my pump Remington model 760, but you could think the total opposite of me. I like pump actions because they are less expensive than a semi-auto, and you can cycle through the shells quickly IF YOU HAVE TO. I am not the kind of hunter that blasts away at anything that moves and empties the gun at every deer they shoot at. But, if you would happen to hit a deer in a less than perfect spot, and need a quick follow up shot, the pump allows you to quickly load another shell into the chamber. If you are concerned with long range accuracy, I would go with a bolt action. However, for anything within 300 yards, I don't think you will find much difference in accuracy between the various actions. As everybody on here has been saying so far, it all comes down to personal preference.
