I am new to this forum, and don't post very often, but your question intrigued me because I've been sort ofgoing through the same thing. I've been looking to buy another rifle for about a year now. I've looked at and handled theRemington 700 sps, Ruger Hawkeyes, Tikkas and the Savage. I haven't bought it yet, but I'mplanning on buying the savage next week end. The same gun you are looking at but with a Simmons scope. My nephew has the same gun in a 22-250 which I've shot a few times and really liked once I got use to the Accutrigger. For the money I don't think a person can go wrong with the Savage as long as it feels right and is comfortable to handle. Just my .02 and another vote for the Savage. Which gun to buy not a bad dilema to have.

Savage here also. Actually the model you are looking at is the 11 not the 111. The 111 is the long action (279, 30-06, etc.) the 11 is the short action (22-250, 243, 7-08, etc.). Good reliable straight shooitng rifles. Only complaint I have is the earlier models had a flimsy synthetic stock. I understand Savage has started putting a stiffer stock on them.
