i have owned a few weaver scopes over the years, mostly for .22' s and have not had a problem with them. i also switched to leupold and have stuck with them over the years. it would seem to me you might be wasting your money on a variable of 1x3 power, i would put a good 4x leupold on your rifle and leave it at that.

have you ever thought of the bushnell red dot scope? great for shots under 50yds. probally cheaper than the leupold' s.

just a thought.....

My Weaver pistol scope seems to be ok, it was scout mounted on a .308 and now it' s on a Nagant. It' s the newer one also.
But, it ain' t a Leupold either.
