RE: 25-06 270 30-06
I only pointed out the cost difference in the bullets??
I have chased several deer around the hill with the 25 caliber bullets. I rarely have to chase one with30 caliber bullets.
If you can not understand how a larger diameter and heavier bullet would put a deer down faster, then it would be impossible for me to explain it to you.
I have said this before and I will say it again. The quarter bore is too small for the big stuff, and toobig for the small stuff.

The 257wby is probably as good a deer cartridge as is currently available.I have killed elk, moose, deer, mountain goat and pronghorn with my 257wby.The only negative is the price of factory loads and brass, and you do need to do plenty of practice shooting if you want to be able to use the cartridge to it's potential.

Thank You stubble I had thought of the 257I knew it had awesome ballistics. But when I saw it today in the gun shop.Wow.I was considering the 270 WSM also.I looked at a X bolt in 270 WSM,To me the Remington Just felt better,I repfer the feel of the A bolt over the X bolt,In Looks also the CDL-SF is also pleasing to the eye.
Beleive it or not the 257 has a 26 inch and is actually lighter in the front than the 23 barrel of the x bolt

.270 Win for sure out of those 3!
btw, there are many elk hunts reasonably priced, or even just a DIY, you may get luck, if not, you're in the woods for a week chasing them.
And in which cast I think a .270 shooting 130-150grs would be a great deal better on elk than a .25-06 shooting 117grs, course a 30-06 would be even better for elk than a 270, but the 270 would certainly do the job.
For deer, .270 is my gun of choice.

IMO, as humble as it is, 30.06 would be my pick. The comment above on the cost of ammo is enuf to make me go that route. Then you have a gun and caliber for all seasons. To me the 30.06 is a the all around performer. I can buy ammo at the gas station if i need it. About as exotic as i get is the 7mm-08 which is my favorite. But if i had to choose one caliber? 30.06 would win for it's versatility.

I just bought a 25-06 Tikka T3 Light and it came with a BSA scope(4-16x40IR mil dot) and it also came with 3 boxes of 115gr Winchester ballistic silver tips all for 600.00 is that a good deal? does anyone have experience with Winchester rounds?
