I picked up the rifle from a small gun shop in Jaffrey NH. I looked for 3-4 months before I secured one for $298.Marlin shipped a few hundred 25-06at the end of '08 to 2 distributors in Penn and NC.These distibutors mostly supply Dicks Sporting Goods so they are the most apt to have the .25-06 now.
Keeptabs on the gunbroker website. They had a few up on therethe last few weeks. I just checked andthey only have .270 and 30-06 now.Between FFL tranfer fees and shipping you may pay up to $375 using gunbroker. You will save some greenbacks ifyou can get locally.

Great rifle, but i am not a fan of the 25.06. It's a costly round thats sometimes hard to find. I would go 7mm-08 and get the best deer caliber of all time IMO. Marlin is going to release the short actions this spring.

25-06 is one of if not my favorite rounds. That being said I most always go with my 7 mag win. model 70 just because I am more used to that particular rifle than any of my others. My Sako AV ( that I bought from a member here) 25-06 is a real beauty and a great shooter. My son was shooting it a couple of weeks ago and was doing 1 holers @ 100 yards so I just had to give it to him.BTW he is only 14.But he will let dad use it.
